Equatorial Guinea launches a new offshore patrol boat
Equatorial Guinea’s President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo launched a new offshore patrol boat named Bata. The vessel Bata is 107.3 meters long, 17 wide and 8.25 meters high to the upper deck. Construction was completed in 2011 and included the implementation of new technologies for safe navigation in automatic mode.
According to Commander Jose Jonatas Nguema, “the new vessel will provide security and safeguard the interests of Equatorial Guinea through the detection, classification and fight against any land, air sea and underwater enemy target.”
Vicente Eya Olomo, Deputy Minister of the National Defense, thanked President Obiang at the launch ceremony for his efforts in protecting national security through the development of Bata. It will help address issues such as immigration and smuggling and will protect other countries in the region.
