The President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, HE
Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, called for the international mobilization of investments
of more than one billion dollars in solar energy from now until 2030 at the
International Solar Alliance Summit.
The mobilization of investment will facilitate and
accelerate the large-scale deployment of more than one thousand gigawatts of
solar energy to developing countries to meet their growing demand for energy.
The President highlighted the importance of international
collective action to work for a cleaner world and noted Equatorial Guinea’s
concern in regards to the global threat of climate change.
The Summit, established at the COP21 Climate Change Summit
in Paris by France and India, is focused on leaving clean, affordable, and
renewable energy to everyone through the promotion of green, clean, and
sustainable energy.
The framework agreement of the Summit has been signed by 58
countries and ratified by 26, making it one of the most promising international
coalitions to fight against climate change.
High-level officials and heads of state from 121 countries
participated in the Summit, including the President of France and Prime
Minister of India.
