Equatorial Guinea to Partner with Total on Energy Exploration Project

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is set to partner with Total on a hydrocarbon exploration project in the coming months.

The President of the Republic, HE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, met with the Director of Exploration and Production for Africa, Guy Maurice, to discuss the technical aspects of the project.

The Minister of Finance and Secretary of State for Mines also attended the meeting.

Equatorial Guinea recently launched the Year of Energy initiative at the III annual Africa Oil and Power (AOP) conference.

Equatorial Guinea has a strong energy industry, and developed new investment opportunities at the II AOP conference, in addition to new partnerships with Cameroon.

Equatorial Guinea is a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and is Sub-Saharan Africa’s third-largest oil and gas producer.

In 2017, Equatorial Guinea invested its resources in key infrastructure works to spur the country’s economy, including a new headquarters for Exxon Mobil.
